Algae Culturing Facility

The Algae Culturing Facility (ACF) serves UT-Austin and the broader community as a test bed for the cultivation and research of microalgae.

The large-scale cultivation of microalgae has been at the forefront of U.S. biomass programs (Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and others) to displace our dependence on fossil fuels and foreign oil, as well as, for the production of food and high-value products with nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications. The ACF provides users access to numerous growth modules (up to 50,000 L) and related equipment for the large-scale cultivation of microalgae.
